Hello Space is a concept proposal for an object in public space. I competed with this concept for a competition ‘ Het geluk van Lingenwaard’ 2011 in which I finished in the last 8 and later again for a competition for Waalfront, Nijmegen 2014.
Hello Space is an optimistic salute from planet Earth. It has an universal and intergalactic feel with a twist. The image, the text, is referring to the future, a future in which we will push our boundaries further and further. The earth no longer has any boundaries and automatically people start looking for ways to break down space frontiers. Will there be some form of leisure space travel in the future, will there be interchange between us and other space dwellers. Will interactions then be flawless and harmonious or will there be some measurement of power and exploitations after all? Or do we appear to be all alone with our billions of earth inhabitants after all? My concept refers to both cosmic space and the (green)space surrounding us and underlines the importance of space and the experience of actual (breathing) space.
