Extra blond verwijst naar mijn eigen blonde haar en alle vooroordelen over blondines. Een blondine is of wel een dom dan wel sexy blondje In mij geval kan ik melden; ik vind mijzelf niet dom ……..

Extra blond is referring to my own hair colour and all prejudice about blonds. Either we are dumb, sexy or sexy and dumb! In my case I state; do not consider myself a dummy!

Collage: 1 gevonden object, een kledinglabel van een kledingmerk op katoen gestikt op houten frame.

 De vindlocatie van dit stukje textiel was bij het stoplicht, hoek Rieteweg- Ceintuurbaan, Zwolle. Dit stukje-stof -plaklabel refereert naar zowel onze wegwerp maatschappij als naar moderne slavernij die plaatsvindtin de 3e wereld textielfabrieken en katoenvelden. Waar sommige gewoon goedkope mode willen heeft voor anderen hun arbeid en bestaan geen waarde. Een paradox.

I found this label next to a traffic light in Zwolle nearby my atelier. This piece of art is addressing both to our convenience society as to modern slavery. Modern slavery takes place in 3th world textile factories and cotton fields. While some are ‘cheap’ in fashion, others endure and suffer a life with no, or hardly any value at all.

Leftie (verbal no. 16)

Collage:  gevonden plastic tas en gaffa tape op houten frame

Dit werk bevat 1 gevonden object, een plastic tas, gevonden nabij CS Zwolle. Plastic afval in onze straten laten zien hoeveel we om onze omgeving geven. De mensheid zal over niet al te lange tijd in staat zijn naar alternatieve planeten te reizen (Mars) en droomt ervan het te koloniseren zoals we onze aarde ook gekoloniseerd hebben. Hoe kan het tegelijkertijd bestaan, zoveel kennis, wijsheid en immense stompzinnigheid? Wat betreft het woord leftie, het past me wel.

This artwork only contains one found object, a plastic bag found near central station Zwolle. Plastic waste and other trash on the streets shows how much we are involved in our environment. Mankind soon will be able to travel to an alternative planet (Mars), and is dreaming of colonizing it. How can it exist at the same time: this great wisdom and immense stupidity? Concerning the word Leftie, I think it suits me well!

This Aggression Will Not Stand  verbal no. 17.

Ik heb kennis gemaakt met deze stellige uitspraak in de cultfilm The Big Lebowski van de Coen brothers. De personage Walter Sobschak (gespeeld door John Goodman) is een Vietnam veteraan die denkt dat hij Joods is, zit vol met onderdrukte agressie. Hij bezigt deze zin ‘ This aggression will not stand’ te pas en te onpas en met een nogal agressieve intonatie. Een mooi contrast met personage Jeffrey Lebowski, alias de Dude of El Duderino (gespeeld door Jeff Bridges). Hij, de dude, is een levensgenieter, halve hippie en pacifistische vriendelijke luiaard die het liefst vreedzaam en onder invloed van een jointje de wereld tegemoet treed. Deze film heeft terecht een cult status net als de Coen brothers zelf. Maar deze uitspraak van Walter, later ook geadopteerd door de zachtaardige Dude, is zelf ook iconisch geworden. Wat ik er mooi aan vind is de tegenstelling in de zin zelf.

This Aggression Will Not Stand  (verbal nr 17)

I got to know this firm line in the cult film The Big Lebowski by the brothers Coen. The character Walter Shobshak (played by John Goodman) is a Vietnam veteran who thinks he’s Jewish. He is filled with repressed aggression. He uses this phrase ‘ This aggression will not stand’ every now and then with rather aggressive intonation.  This character stands in great contrast with, movie character, Jeffrey Lebowski, alias the Dude or El Duderino (played by Jeff Bridges). He is this friendly but lazy pacifistic hedonist that encounters the world peacefully and permanent under influence of soft drugs. This film has reached a cult status, as goes for the Coen Brothers too. But this statement, later on adopted by gentle Dude became iconic as well. I do appreciate the contradiction of it.
